紬（つむぎ）とは、先に糸を染めてから（先染め）織り上げる、丈夫で素朴な風合いの絹織物です。艶やかな「柔らかもの」に対し、独特のハリと落ち着いた光沢があり、洋服で例えるとジーンズのようなカジュアルな日常着として人気です。高級品（大島紬、結城紬など）を除き、主に街着、ランチ、観劇、旅行などのおしゃれ着に向いています。

Tsumugi is a silk fabric with a strong and simple texture that dyes the thread first and then (pre-dyed) and then weaves it. Compared to the glossy "soft", it has a unique firmness and calm lustre, and if you compare it to clothes, it is popular as a casual daily wear like jeans. Except for luxury goods (Oshima pongee, Yuki pongee, etc.), it is mainly suitable for fashionable clothing such as street wear, lunch, theatre viewing, and travelling.
