大島紬（おおしまつむぎ）は、鹿児島県奄美群島を発祥とする、約1300年の歴史を持つ絹100%の高級織物です。世界三大織物の一つに数えられ、泥染めによる深い黒、緻密な絣（かすり）模様、軽くしなやかでシワになりにくい特徴があります。主な用途は着物（アンサンブル、訪問着）で、近年は洋服やバッグへのリメイクにも人気です。

Oshima Tsumugi is a high-quality 100% silk fabric originating from the Amami Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture, with a history of approximately 1300 years. It is considered one of the world's three greatest textiles, and is characterized by its deep black color achieved through mud dyeing, its intricate ikat patterns, and its light, supple, and wrinkle-resistant texture. Its main use is for kimonos (ensembles and formal wear), but in recent years it has also become popular for remaking into Western clothing and bags.
